Same Winner’s Winning Sucks

Yes it does suck and we know how frustrating it might be to your gaming experience when a few players seem to hit a lucky streak while there are times you can’t even claim one bingo game : (

Hello BingoVegans, this is an important blog post which I’ve been looking forward to writing, as I believe, it’s a huge milestone for the community.

Having worked in the online bingo industry through out the past few years and at several different bingo sites, one common concern amongst bingo players have always been “same winner’s keep winning”.

Why Same Winners Happen?

Same winner syndrome seems to haunt many bingo sites, and it’s a big challenge for our industry as a whole.

Same winners happen, because in every game, room and site, there are players with different wagering habits:

  • some buy minimum cards
  • where others play max cards

As I’m sure you’ve heard this before:

“Bingo is a game of chance and the more cards a player has the higher odds they have in claiming bingo”

Though having more cards doesn’t guarantee a bingo, it improves the probability.

How Winners are selected?

Here’s how winner’s are determined:

  1. The Game Server Starts a New game by selecting the Game pattern for the next game.
  2. The Game server enables player card purchasing.
  3. The Players manually select their game cards from a deck of over 30,000 unique bingo cards.
  4. Players purchase their desired cards.
  5. The purchase requests are sent to the game server.
  6. The game server receives the purchase requests from the players and enters their selected cards into the game.
  7. The server sends an acknowledgement back to the player telling the player that their cards have been purchased, and entered into the game. 25 Seconds before game start time the game server suspends further card purchasing.
  8. The game server waits an additional 15 seconds to make sure that all purchase requests have been completed and properly entered into the system
  9. The game server then generates 75 or 90 numbers using the systems random number generator.
  10. The game server then systematically applies the random calls to each of the player purchased bingo cards and crosschecks each card with the winning pattern.
  11. With this procedure the game server has now determined the number of winning bingo cards in the deck of player purchased cards and at which call the cards have won.
  12. Receives this information and begins calling the numbers. Calls are presented to the user every ten seconds.
  13. Players can then play and chat with other players knowing that in the event of any system, or telecommunications interruption their cards have been fairly entered into the game and that in each case the true game winner (or winners) will be awarded the prize.

Whose our Software Provider?

There are many different bingo software providers today. We chose a software partner that shares our commitment to fair play. Our random Number Generator (RNG) has earned a prestigious certificate from an internationally recognized and respected Accredited Testing Facility – Technical Systems Testing (TST).

Without getting technical, TST has verified, through mathematical and statistical analysis (in accordance with the strict standards of highly regulated jurisdictions) that the our software provider’s RNG distributes numbers with sufficient non-predictability, fair distribution and lack of bias to particular outcomes.

Our Commitment To You

Knowing that we have a software partner committed to fair play is just the start. In the past, to combat same winners syndrome, we experimented with a fair n’ square room where all players received equal cards, per game, unfortunately the down turn of that was very low wagering and low game prizes and ultimately the room fizzled off.

But that hasn’t dithered us from coming up with other creative ways to provide fair play to you.

Here are some new perks we’ve launched to offset same winner’s winning:

(1) With an All New 2nd Chance Feature:
As some of you know, during the past two weeks, we ran a beta launch of this new feature at Bingo Vega. Basically, every monday, we host two hours of free bingo games for members that hit an unlucky streak the week before.

Right now, the criteria is very simple for qualification: we invite 200 BingoVegans who had the lowest winning % from the week before (Sunday to Saturday).

(2) 1 TG Coveralls
To ensure we give you more ways to win, in April we launched the 1 TG Coverall bingo special from 6pm to 12am EST. This simple promo makes you a winner when you get a 1TG on a card but not bingo. Complete details can be found on the Bingo Promotions page.

(3) Mid-Week Fair N’ Square Tournament
Another new special now available to you is our weekly mid-week Fair N’ Square bingo tournament.

Every Wednesday from 10pm to 12am EST, in the new Fair N’ Square room, everyone receives 10 cards every game for an equal shot at winning these biggie prizes:

The Fair N’ Square Session 10pm to 11pm EST, then repeats again 11pm to 12am EST

  • Game 1 – $50 Guaranteed Game @ $1.50/game
  • Game 2 – $100 Guaranteed Game @ $3.00/game
  • Game 3 – $50 Guaranteed Game @ $1.50/game
  • Game 4 – $500 Guaranteed Game @ $5.00/game
  • Game 5 – $100 Guaranteed Game @ $3.00/game
  • Game 6 – $50 Guaranteed Game @ $1.50/game
  • Game 7 – $100 Guaranteed Game @ $3.00/game
  • Game 8 – $250 Guaranteed Game @ $4.00/game

The above are just a few of the specials and new added perks of being a BingoVega member. You can rest assure, we’ll continuously work our rear ends to bring you more ways to win. Stay tuned.

Joel, sounds like a great idea!!!! Will try the 10 card games an let you know how it goes!! Have played in Vegas in “live” games and it seemed the same people won all the time so understand the frustration. one nite “49″ didn't comeout at all and gaming commission came out to check!!!! If it would have come out I would have won single line, the “x” and coverall. Someone complained so to protect themself they had gaming check to be sure all the balls were there!!! That is why it is called GAMBLING!!! any I enjoy playing at this site ad your hard work is appreciated.

It sure is refreshing to hear someone finally admit that the number of cards purchased has a bearing on odds of winning. Thank you!

this site should screen names better, alot are offense. who likes to play with a bunch of boobs

  5. 5jewels on May 30, 2009 at 8:51 pm:

dont vote for vega, what a disgrace to bingo sites the way they allow people to have their screen names

  6. 6screamb on May 31, 2009 at 9:14 am:

    This is regarding Quickie Room.
Why is quickie room so slow its suppose to be QUICK! There should not be 3 or 4 minutes between games, Think Quickie 1 minute to get cards and quick calling. Vega wins on more games played,Players win on more excitement instead of being bored waiting for next game.

  7. 7Joel on May 31, 2009 at 12:54 pm:

Hi Jewels, may I ask what this is regards so I can look into it? It sounds what ever we've done has upset you and I'd like do my best to see if we can help you out. Thank you.

  8. 8Joel on May 31, 2009 at 12:59 pm:

lol … interesting suggestion and I think you have a good point there. I'll see if we can do something about that. Since you've brought up the Quickie room, I'll give you a little insider's T!P:

We'll be revamping the Quickie room and making it better by giving you more chance to enjoy the room throughout the week and increase the odds of the PJP. The PJP in the Quickie has been stubborn, we would love to see you win it more often … we just need to just make it even more easier to win the PJP throughout the day.

More on the new changes and improvements on Monday : )

Hi Neil, thanks for bringing this to my attention. I would really appreciate it, if you could send me an email to hallmanager[at]bingovega.com a list of the names you've found offensive.

    Thank you.

I would like to thank BingoVega on their new Asteroid Room. I love the new format and games. One suggestion of improvement would be the 1-2-3 line parimutuals and 4-6-9 packs. Once a winner gets one win it is easier to sweep the whole category. A great example to work with is the 6pk-fish-CA. I see the site is greatly improved and the CM and support staff are working hard to keep BingoVega Number One!!! Congrats, DJRich

Thank You for all the interesting information.
Sure miss being able to play at my favorit bingo site, Bingovega!
Hope to be able to use my Mastercard soon.
They other options is not an alternitive for me (from Sweden).

Was a little surprised when You Joel wrote , that You could increse the possibilitys for PJP, thought that was random.

It has been really great over the past few months to see how Bingovega is spoiling us. And the site is looking very nice. Thank you again.

i just always hate when same people win over and over i dont play if i cant buy max card and i sure cant win like them what is going on?

  15. 15bobbyeocean on Jun 7, 2009 at 9:47 pm:

Love the new fair and square game. It's always so depressing when you have little money and you know other players are maxing and you are playing just two. But to paraphrase a poker saying, all you need is a card and a chair(or computer)lol.
It still makes it more fun if you know everyone has an equal chance of winning. I just wish we could pick our own cards, or even group of cards. That's just a psych thing though, it probably doesn't matter.
Thank you Vega for being the greatest.
And about the names, at least our boobs are readily identified, unlike some sites. LOL

  16. 16Stylish on Jun 11, 2009 at 1:04 am:

im sick of all the same winners in the free games aswell makes it realy hard to watch the free games cause its all the same winners each game so im just not playing aney more

  22. 22Joel on Jun 19, 2009 at 11:47 am:

    Hi Poisen,

Same winners winning in the free games? I just checked the game winning logs from last nights $25 free bingo games in the Quickie room and there were no multiple winners. The odds of the same winner winning over and over again in Fair N' Square and our exclusive free rolls games is lowered since every member plays with the same number of cards.

Which hour did you find same winner's winning and I'll be happy to investigate for you … thanks for your help!

  24. 24Marilyn on Jun 22, 2009 at 7:06 pm:

    Hi,
You might not print this, but I had a few friends join because I was bragging up the big guaranteed jackpots on Saturdays. It seems like you got a bunch of new members and now have upped the game prices, to where some of us on limited incomes cannot afford to buy tickets, and you've lowered the guaranteed pots. Every now and then before, it was worth it to spend a dollar a card for a chance to win $1000, or $2500 and a person could buy a few. Looks like my friends and I will not be spending as much as we were on here, as our chances are nil. Also, noticed the same winners time and time again on the games. I do love that you have free games and thank you for that, but you would think a person's odds were a little better there, but I play the free games all the time and haven't hit a free game for ages. Just thinking it was better with your bigger guaranteed pots and some of us could compete with some of these people that deposit thousands of dollars. When you're on a limited income, you can't, and you can't win with one card hardly ever. The fair n square is good too, but seem to have the same winners again on that eve. Anyway, just liked it the way it was before you upped the game prices and made it hard for some of us to compete at all. Thanks for listening.

  25. 25Joel on Jun 23, 2009 at 2:56 am:

Hi Marilyn, thanks for caring enough to provide us your valuable feedback. First, we've started the community blog to give our members a voice at the community … good or bad, we think all of our bingovegans should be able to voice their praises when we do the right things and critique us when you feel we're not living up to our promise to you. Just wanted to clarify that.

Regards the guaranteed $1,000 and $2,500 prizes. In June, we revamped the Friday and Saturday special event by giving you more cash prizes to win. Previously, when we hosted the $1,000 games, the prize pool for Fridays was around $3,500 in total prizes and Saturdays around $5,000. Now, the new and improved Special Events are bigger then before as we award over $6,000 on Fridays and over $7,000 guaranteed cash on Saturdays.

As you've probably noticed, each month we revamp the Friday and Saturday special events to make these fun nights as exciting as possible for you and your fellow bingovegans. I would argue that although we're not hosting $1,000 guaranteed games in June, we're giving away more cash prizes and spreading the odds for all members by hosting more $250 and $325 guaranteed games. We've also added a few exciting $25,000 coveralls with a minimum $500 pot. And as you've pointed out, more free bingo games then ever before.

On top of the specials, you'll have a chance at $5,000 guaranteed coverall game in 75 calls at the end of the month.

When July rolls in, you can expect another revamped Friday and Saturday special event. And we'll certainly look at ways to offer more of the $1,000 guaranteed games you've come to love along with the guaranteed $250 bingo pots.

Regards same winner's winning, I've heard this from several players on this post and I've followed each concern by investigating the games in question. For example, the Fair N' Square which played last Wednesday, i've published the winners list for each game and I haven't seen any signs of same winner's winning.

Thanks again for your feedback and we'll work harder next month to bring you more of the guaranteed $1,000 pots you love.

  26. 26Marilyn on Jun 26, 2009 at 10:23 pm:

Thanks for your comments, and maybe if you could post the winners of the fair and square room from this week, as I wasn't here, but I had a few friends who were concerned about the winners again. I've still been trying the free games, as I'm limited until the first week in July and still no luck. Still seems a persons odds should be a bit better. What system did you say you use for cards? By the way, your price for the $5000 game is so reasonable compared to the card prices for the $250 games. Thanks again.

  27. 27R. McGlashen on Jul 12, 2009 at 11:55 am:

Same winners to me means whenever I log in to play there is a group of players that take hold of the ensuing games and dominate the wins. Next time I log in, it may be a diffrent group, but all familiar names that are the steady winners. I heard a player “complaining” they deposited over 1200.00 in a month and were tired of other players being resentful over their wins. NO ONE forces anyone to deposit, and the large depositors( just as the small ones) need to be reminded with the same impunity that it is” gambling”. Depositing large sums and maxing out may increase your chances, true, but if you feel you are entitled to wins because of your choices, you are altering the concept of gambling to suit your agenda.
As far as the free room…With over 100 people playing, it is next to a miracle that Pay to Play famliar names win on almost every session of free games. Some winning twice in one session. I think it is all in the card distribution coupled with the fact (I beleive) that the software KNOWS the winning card before the game begins. The rng may be functioning properly and correctly, but what operation of random distribution “gives” the winner the selected winning card?
have been seeing some people win almost assuredly in the free room almost every time they play and have seen players win in a pay room at the same time they win in the free room. Coincidence? Perhaps, but it should be a million to one possibity of it occuring very often.
The realityof winning on one or two cards is a possibility, but chances are slim that will happen when competing with max out players, so be prepared to enjoy the chat, consider the entertainment value your prime objectve. and get your “WTG AGAIN” stamp ready!

  28. 28R. McGlashen on Jul 12, 2009 at 4:19 pm:

It is not one specific event or series of games, as in the free games, that I would call same winner tragedy, but an overall look at a week or 2 of games that is quite compelling in the fact that the same people seem to have continuing luck in the free game.
With over 100 people usually getting the free cards, I note that the same pay to play winners( who win in paygames) ALWAYS win at least one game without a couple days passing.
If someone did no play inthe pay to play games a long time ofcourse, they would not recognize the same names as familiar.
I can sure recognize a name that is UNfamiliar in the free room, and they are far and few in between.
Same winner seems to be all over the online bingo arena. The ony thing I can conclude is that those lucky people are spending big bucks to increaseodds and that is the PRIMARY way to be a same winner. Have to be content being a fringe player that might win a gamenow and then, or go whole hog and join those that deposit hundreds or thousands monthly. OR..just stop playing online bingo in the face of an epidemic same winner syndrome.
I think Bingovega does an excellent job of adressing that issue and is one of a few sites thatwill evenrecognize it as a real concern instead of “disruntled player attitude” and ignoring it.
