BingoVega Cat Show Results

Now you’ve done it, I’m completely in love.  Looking at all the adorable cat pictures just made my heart melt.  As I was busy saying “awwwwwwww”, my black lab, Boozy, was looking at me as if to say, “don’t even think about it”.

One thing is for certain – Vegans love their pets.  From the barking parade of dogs that we saw last year for our Dog Show, to the quiet reserve of all the kitty pictures that were shared for our recent Cat Show; I can say that we truly are animal lovers.

Anyway, let’s get down to the kitty-gritty (I know, that was bad) and announce our winners!

3rdThird Place – Bubba – (Jennilou6)

Jennilou6′s cat Bubba has earned her third place in this contest, with a nice little $10 prize to with it.  Way to go Bubba, you made it into the top 3 and scored some dough for your owner!

2nd

Second Place – Tigger (Georgiesgirl)

I didn’t know what to think about this cat in a sink, perhaps thirst has driven him to find a quick drink.  Rhyming aside, this picture is more than cute, and has found it’s way into second place!  Congratulations to Georgiesgirl who has earned a cool $15 for submitting this picture!

1st
1st Place Winner – Precious Jane “PJ” – (CrzyGirlJoJo)

The stare, the pose, the kitten cuteness.  It all came together for this one amazing photo that earned CrzyGirlJojo first place and titled the winner of BingoVega’s 1st annual Cat Show.  Congratulations to PJ and to GrzygirlJoJo!

I had a lot of fun with this promotion and I would like to thank everyone for participating and voting.  What’s next on the horizon for pet shows?  Birds, reptiles, livestock?  We’ll always keep the fun coming with new ways to win prizes!

First Annual BingoVega Cat Show

catshow

Last year to the delight of many BingoVegans, we hosted our First Annual BingoVega Dog Show.  This was a great event where dog owners could submit a picture of their favourite canine friends for our Facebook fan page to be viewed and judged by our community.  Not to be outdone, we’re offering another contest strictly for our players who prefer pets of the feline persuasion.

This week will be Cat Show week, brought to you by BingoVega and our Facebook Fan page!  We’re calling all cat lovers to send us your pictures of your kitty friends for a chance to win some cool bonuses and bragging rights within our community.  Here’s the lowdown:

1.)     Upload a picture of your cat and be sure to include his or her name along with your alias

2.)     Any “like”s your picture receives will be counted toward you vote total (invite your friends to vote on your picture to better your chances!)

3.)      Collect the most votes by Thursday, February 10th at noon and win 1 of 3 prizes

There it is, a cool way to show your cat off to all Vegans and get paid for doing so.  Third prize will be awarded $10, runner up will receive $15, and the winner of BingoVega’s First Annual Cat Show will take home a prize of $25.

So let’s prove that we’re all proud kitty owners and send us your pics!  We want to see big cats, little cats, cats that climb on rocks; fat cats, skinny cats, even cats with chicken pox…well, maybe not the last one.  Best of luck and thanks to all entrants!

Top 5 Christmas Songs as per BingoVegans recommendation (and one by Joel)

Last week, I polled our wonderful bingo community over at our Facebook Fan page to find out what are some of your favourite Christmas songs.  As a follow up to that post, and wanting to remain in the Christmas spirit, I have scoured the internet (ok ok, scoured YouTube) to find the very best renditions of the songs recommended by our BingoVegans.   So here they are, in all their Christmasy glory to help set the mood for Santa and his very long, yet remarkably swift trip.

5.  Frank Sinatra – Merry Little Christmas

You can’t get this song any better than the rendition of Mr. Sinatra.  Slow and easy, I can’t help but think of a fire after being outside, and the comforts of home during the holidays.  A great pick!

4.  Vince Vance & the Valiants – All I want for Christmas is You

Not to be confused with another song of the same name by pop starlet, Mariah Carey, “All I want for Christmas is You” was released as a single in 1989 by the American band, Vince Vance & the Valiants.  I love the theme of this song, as it tells a tale about not wanting gifts from Santa, only the love in her life to spend Christmas with.

3.  Willie Nelson – Frosty The Snowman

A bitter sweet story about creating a friend from snow and items found around the house, Frosty the Snowman was written by Walter “Jack Rollins” and Steve Nelson.  Coincidentally, the best rendition of ths song is by country music legend and recent activist, Willie Nelson.

2.  Billy Idol – Jingle Bell Rock

Now originally, the request was made for Jingle Bell Rock as sung by Elvis Aaron Presley.  Unfortunately, the closest rendition that I could find (the one that we all hear on the radio) is by Bobby Helms.  However, with a little digging, I found this gem of a song performed by Billy Idol.  Billy Idol was a favourite of mine growing up, and half the reason I selected this rendition is because he looks like he’s having so much fun performing.

1.  Christmas Don’t Be Late – Alvin and the Chipmunks (Joel’s Pick)

Love it or not, this is my personal pick of favourite Christmas songs.  I always know that the season is here when I hear this unmistakable song being played on local radio while shopping.  As always, I’m not too concerned about hearing the lyrics outside of “blah blah blah…HOOLAHOOP!”

So there you have it.  songs picked by BingoVegans in the season of Christmas.  How did we do?  Do you think that we can add anymore to this list?  What are your ultimate favourite Christmas songs?

Holiday Recipes Needed!

Well I’ve gone and done it.  As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not the worlds greatest cook.  I’ve stopped counting the amount of upturned noses that my kids give me when I present to them a meal that I’m very proud of.  They do the usual; look at me to see if I’m joking, poke around their plate, then flat out refuse to eat.

In my wealth of wisdom, using the best of my decision making powers, I’ve committed myself to bringing some type of dish to our family’s Christmas dinner.  BingoVegans, I truly have bitten off more than I can chew.

Now that’s not to say that all hope is lost.  There are some things that I can make quite well.  So while there is a tiny spark that seems to be in me, culinary wise, I’m not sure if bacon and eggs would go over well with the family.  Toast is another story.

Toast is another story altogether

Even with the recommendation that my kids have given me of just taking a huge salad with us, I have to say that I’m a little deflated as well as slightly anxious as I count down the days until I unleash my creation (and hopefully not food poisoning).  I’ve been playing with the idea of just buying something from the store and trying to pass it off as my own.  Surely no one would be able to tell the difference between home cooked chicken and mashed potatoes and those you can buy from KFC.  Wait, they would, huh?  Hmmm.

BingoVegans, oh wise and culinary gifted, I appeal to you.  I need your help in coming up with the perfect holiday recipe that I can make and bring to Christmas dinner.  I don’t need anything too fancy, but rather something that will be remembered, and not as the cause to all the time in the bathroom afterwards.

So how about it?  Can anyone help and post a recipe that I can use?  I will look at all comments to see which one tickles my fancy, as well as my abilities, and I will make an update to this blog post – complete with pictures.  Thank you so much in advance for any help that you can give me :)

Good news and bad news

Let’s talk about the bad first, because the good news is GREAT.

Talk about having a bad day. As you’ve probably collected, our server migration didn’t go as smoothly as we had hoped yesterday.  We understand that we have let down our community by over promising on the best case scenario as to the hours in which Vega would be unavailable.  If I can speak for the Vega team, I would just like to express my sincerest apologies for the extended maintenance, and the lapse of communication while we tried to get everything running as quickly as possible.

Now time for some GREAT news:

  • the site is back and running our new stallion (hello Stallion)
  • a new cashier page with new Easy Funding Options (yeah baby, as promised)
  • all games are working properly

Here’s what we’re working on:

With a change as big as this, we’re working on diligently on the following items

  • we’re working with our software provider and will have the progressive figures back to pre-change
  • tournament page
  • and other promotional material on the site

During this time, you may come across a few “none working” links, we’re aware of these and will be fixing these pages as well.

To recap, I would like to answer the question of where we are right now.  As of this current moment, all games are working properly, funding and withdrawals are available, and our whole team is focused on making everything right and moving toward a very exciting future at Vega.  We realize that with the issues that we had yesterday, key features of the site did not play such as the Second Chance room and Team Bingo.  As we’ve always done in the past, we would like to make it up to all players that were affected by this unforeseen cancellation by hosting our Second Chance room tomorrow (Wednesday October 20th) at 6pm est.  Fans of Team Bingo will be able to experience the rush of competition by joining us on Thursday night (October 21st) for the missed round of Team Bingo.

It has been a rough 30 hours since we started the migration of our servers.  I cannot express how appreciative I am to our fabulous community for having the patience and understanding while we make things better at Vega.  Although there is much work to be done, we fully believe that this is just a minor setback that comes with the ultimate goal of being the best online bingo community.

Deepest thanks,

Joel
