A couple weeks ago, we asked for your ideas and suggestions for Vega’s upcoming Bingo Mascot and out of that came the great suggestion of having vega’s mascot be similar to the a troll with crazy hair. TahDah! Today, I’d like to share with you some rough sketches of how the progress of Shoupie is coming along.

One and two are the sketches that are similar to the trademarked treasure troll. For copyright reasons, we won’t use the above but we can certainly use the original troll dolls as inspiration to create Shoupie.

Here are several more options to consider.

Hi All!   I just thought it would be fun to share some facts about bingo that you might not know.   :)

1. Bingo was originally called Beano and was played at fairs in the country.  A dealer would have numbered discs in a cigar box, and when he pulled the disc out he called the number on it.  The person who won would yell “beano”, instead of “Bingo”.
2. Edwin S. Lowe, a toy salesman is credited with inventing the modern day game of bingo, as well as renaming it Bingo
3. After this Bingo was introduced again in 1930 and by 1934 there were 10,000 Bingo games being played each week.
4. Last year more people played Bingo than attended NFL games. WOW
5. There are more than 1,474,200 unique Bingo cards possible.
6. 96% of all Bingo players have won a game at least once.
7. The largest Bingo game ever played had 60,000 players, an additional 10,000 were turned away at the door.

For some of us, spring is just around the corner.  It’s the time where the flowers come out, where we can kiss the snow goodbye, and where we clean out our garages and basements in the spirit of renewal.  We thought that in this same vein we should do something that would add to Vega’s transformation and perk things up in time for spring.

So, let me be the first to announce that we will be updating the look and feel of www.bingovega.com.  All the goodness and things that you love about the site will still be there, but you can look forward to a different theme as well as improvements in usability.  We’re working hard to keep up the momentum of offering you the best experience in online bingo, and this is another change that all us of here at Vega are excited to deliver to you.

Just to give everyone a heads up, we’re planning to make these changes live in March.  We want you all to be part of the process and not feel surprised when we fully change over to the new layout.  There will be another blog post closer to our launch date so we can all celebrate together and we can show more of the new improvements.

One of the things that we’re very grateful of from our players is the excellent feedback that you’ve given us.  So again, I’m asking everyone – what do you think of the new site layout?

The prizes have not yet been finalized, but we are thinking of some cools prizes such as…

4. $500 shopping spree at Walmart
5. All Member of the Month winners would be entered into the end of the year prize as well.

Rules: (suggestions) … here are some ideas:

• Every week 10 players are entered into the contest based on number of games played, time spent at Vega,  friends referred, active on the community blog and in chat, and amount deposited.
• Every week a CM nominates two players from chat that have shown the commoradity that’s important to Vega (active in chat games, helpful to other members, all around good character)
• Then on our end, we’ll randomly select several players based on games played, amount of deposit
• We will announce that week’s nominees on our bingo blog and vega bingo player of the month page
• At the end of the month we’ll do a random “live draw”

Hi All!

I just wanted to share a little something that is non -  bingo related..

I think most of you know that I’m a die hard football fan…   I go to the games, wave my terrible towel lol   Yes that’s right a CRAZY Pittsburgh Steeler fan! lol

This year of course my team won the superbowl, and we had our big welcome home Steelers Superbowl Champs parade.    It was crazy downtown, they estimated 700,000 fans all dressed in black gold waving our terrible towels of course.   It was total chaos, and I loved every minute of it.  I can’t wait to do it again next year, that’s right i’m predicting a 7th championship!  So I wanted to share a pic from that day.
