Whew! After many long caffeine fueled nights and a few heated debates, we have narrowed down the entries that you’ve submitted for our “Name our Blog” contest down to 5. The response for this contest was overwhelming, with a staggering 162 suggestions. Pat yourself on the back gang, I’m blown away by just how much you’ve delivered!
I wish to thank everyone for throwing their suggestions into the pile, again, I can’t begin to tell you how difficult it was to pick only five. However, rules are rules, so without any further ado; here are the top 5 entries in no particular order.
What do you think the name of the Bingo Vega blog should be?
- Vega Vine (36%, 34 Votes)
- Vega News and Views (32%, 30 Votes)
- Vega Station (16%, 15 Votes)
- Galaxy Blog (11%, 10 Votes)
- Vega Comm (5%, 5 Votes)
Total Voters: 94
Good luck and congratulations to our players who’s entries are in the top 5. You can only vote once, so make it count. Voting will close Thursday, November 6th at noon E.S.T. We will update our blog as soon as the votes are tallied with the winner to our contest. Again, I want to send a heartfelt thanks for everyone for participating in our first contest!
[update] the BingoVega vine blog was recently recognized as a great example of a community bingo blog on Bingo HQ. Thank you!
Another week at Vega! We all know that you’re excited to see the winners of our “Name our Blog” contest, and I’ll assure you that the judging is underway. There will be a post up in the next couple days with the results of the winners along with the option to vote for what name you think should be at the top of this blog. We are weighing the choices very carefully, and giving lengthy consideration to all of your suggestions.
All of this judging has made the staff at Bingo Vega very hungry, and we’ve heard that a few of our Roomies might have just the treat that we need to satisfy our munchies. I have to admit that I’m a horrible cook, but I’m asking for you to lend us some of your favorite bingo food recipes. Maybe if one really piques my interest, I will document my misadventures in my kitchen preparing your recipe. Hillarity will probably ensue!

I love this time of year. The leaves are turning into beautiful autumn colors, the air is getting colder, and the nights seem just a little bit darker. For me, October instills that feeling of being a kid again, knowing that Halloween is right around the corner. It’s the season for apple picking and carving pumpkins, for hay-rides and jumping in leaf piles, and considering that Halloween happens to fall upon a Friday; the potential exists for some really great parties.
Usually, I have the pleasure of trick-or-treating with my kids. This year I’ve found myself kid-free and with an invitation to what sounds to be a very interesting party. The only catch – I have no idea what I’m going to wear as a costume. Yes, I do realize that it might be a little late in the game to be worrying about what I’m going to dress up as; however, I’m a natural procrastinator. Fortunately, I do have ten days and a very active imagination… not to mention the help of great friends.
So how about it Vega’ers (Vegans?), do you have any suggestions? Care to tell what you’re going to be wearing on the spookiest night of October? Perhaps share a funny or scary Halloween moment? Let’s all get in the Halloween spirit and share some stories!
In our efforts to enable our community to stay connected, we’ve implemented email alerts as well as the ability to track posts by RSS.
Now you can keep on top of posts by having updates to the Vega Blog sent directly to your email. On the side of the page you’ll notice there’s a text box to enter your email address. After pressing “submit”, you will be sent a confirmation email. Once you’ve confirmed that you would like to receive updates, that’s all there is to it. Every time the blog is updated, you’ll be notified. If there are no updates, you will not be sent an email — it’s as simple as that.
Another way to stay connected is to subscribe to our RSS feed. What is an RSS feed? RSS stan
ds for “Really Simple Syndication” and it’s basically a way to have frequently updated works sent to you in a standardized format which contains the article headline, summary, and a link back to full-text articles on the web. To use RSS, you will need a special news reader or aggregator that displays the RSS content. There are many free programs widely available to view RSS feeds; my personal favorite is Google Reader.
By using email alerts and RSS feed you will be provided with an easy way to be alerted when content appears on our blog. Now you’ll never miss the contests, polls, or postings that matter most to you!
..and Vega was its name-oh
The Bingo Vega Blog has been live for over a week now, and after looking the site over I’ve found that something is becoming more and more apparent — we need a better name. Sure, the name “Bingo Vega Blog” suits the purpose: it’s to the point and describes exactly what this page is. But let’s face it, it’s incredibly boring. So what better way to dub the Bingo Vega Blog than to leave it to you to appropriately name it?
So, from now until October 26th at Midnight we will be accepting ideas and suggestions for naming our blog. Entries will be judged on originality, creativity, and how well it ties into our theme. At the end of the contest we will choose the top 5 suggestions and from these we will allow the Vega community to vote on which one will be selected as the winner!
Using the comment fields below, enter your name and your suggestion and we will announce the top five entries to be voted on after the 26th. The four runner ups will be awarded with 20 BBs and the winner will take the grand prize of $100 CASH. So let your creative juices run wild, give this blog a name, and net yourself a cool prize.
Good luck to all participants!

I just wanted to wish a very Happy Thanksgiving to all our friends in Canada who will be loading up on turkey and stuffing this weekend.
Being a Canadian myself, I know that I’m going to need to punch a new hole in my belt after our dinner is finished this Sunday. That, and I’ll probably end up crawling onto the couch for a turkey induced coma.
To me, the time spent with family is priceless, and I’m wishing all those that will be celebrating this weekend a time of love and togetherness.
Speaking of love and togetherness:
A man in Phoenix calls his son in New York the day before Thanksgiving and says,”I hate to ruin your day, but I have to tell you that your mother and I are divorcing; forty-five years of misery is enough.
“Pop, what are you talking about?” the son screams. We can’t stand the sight of each other any longer,” the father says. “We’re sick of each other, and I’m sick of talking about this, so you call your sister in Chicago and tell her.”
Frantic, the son calls his sister, who explodes on the phone. “Like heck they’re getting divorced,” she shouts, “I’ll take care of this,”
She calls Phoenix immediately, and screams at her father, “You are NOT getting divorced. Don’t do a single thing until I get there. I’m calling my brother back, and we’ll both be there tomorrow. Until then, don’t do a thing, DO YOU HEAR ME?” and hangs up.
The old man hangs up his phone and turns to his wife. “Okay,” he says, “they’re coming for Thanksgiving and paying their own way.”
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Is this thing on?
Welcome everyone to the Bingo Vega Blog.
Launching a blog is just one of the many exciting changes that we’ve been working on at Bingo Vega. We understand you want to be kept up to date and be part of the process of change, so we’ve made it easier for you to communicate with the Bingo Vega team through the new community blog. We hope that this will be a good way to keep on top of the weekly changes and to allow everyone to join in by giving feedback, suggestions, and questions. As well as documenting and sharing changes at Bingo Vega, we will also use this blog to host contests (BB’s anyone?), announce changes to policies and rules, and to tell you about our awesome promotions and tournaments.
But it’s not all going to be strictly shop talk. We want you to come to this blog and have a nice cozy feeling. Our blog writers will be posting items like recipes, stories, testimonials from players, and congratulations to future winners. If we happen to stumble upon a funny video on the net, we’ll post it for all to see and comment on. Basically, we’re hoping that we can connect. We’re hoping that we can bridge the gap between you, the players, and us. We’re hoping that we can become friends.
So with that in mind — my name is Joel. It’s a pleasure to meet you. Again, welcome to the Bingo Vega blog. It might look a little lonely here for the time being but I’m sure we’ll give this blog a little weight in no time.
Thanks for visiting, hope you come back soon.
